WillowWood Achieves ISO Certification

WillowWood’s Mt. Sterling, Ohio, facility has achieved ISO 13485:2003 certification. The company, certified by NSF International Strategic Registrations, met all requirements for having a comprehensive quality management system specifically for the design and manufacturing of medical devices.

The initiative to become ISO 13485:2003 certified began three years ago as WillowWood was actively expanding into new global markets. The certification, awarded in February 2017, denotes that WillowWood’s quality system meets international standards for quality in the design and the manufacturing of medical devices. Meeting these international standards facilitates international trade.

“Obtaining our ISO 13485:2003 certification is the culmination of a company-wide initiative,” commented Steve Huggins, WillowWood’s Quality Assurance Manager. “It has been very gratifying to see the entire WillowWood team work together to meet this far-reaching goal.  We understand the need to continuously improve our processes, products, and customer experience and this certification illustrates that mindset perfectly.”

WillowWood, based in the United States, currently has 20 global distributors in countries including Germany, Australia, Japan, Colombia, and England.  ISO certification is often requested or required of companies entering new markets or securing product contracts with foreign governments.

“ISO certification allows us to explore new market opportunities and establish new distributorships,” said WillowWood President, Ryan Arbogast. “We continue to expand into the global market and we’re helping more amputees worldwide than ever before. Helping amputees regain mobility is really what it is all about.”
